To Be Continued on http://blog.gomper.com

For those visiting Our Seat At The Table, thanks. We’re getting ready to publicly launch gomper.com, the solution to some of the headscratching ’short ends of the stick’ that consumers have taken for granted for too long. I hope you’ll join the Gomper Community and start getting paid for the time and attention marketers buy from you every day. It’s your time and it’s your money.

All new blog posts are going up on http://blog.gomper.com and I hope you will continue reading. Thanks.

Progress Report

The movement has begun.

Over 500 people visited this blog last week. 100 people have raised their hand by signing up on the blog, following OurSeat on Twitter, or being a fan of OurSeat on Facebook. I’m please with the start, especially considering I haven’t really given any details yet. But I want to be clear, this is not a pipe dream. This can be done and we all can start getting paid for our role as consumers with little to no effort on our part. As long as we have enough people raising their hands.

If extra money every month as payment for the time and attention advertisers have been buying sounds intriguing to you, please let me know. Even if you don’t understand how it’s going to work. I want to write more about how this can work…how we can easily join together and started getting paid for our role in the $300 Billion ad economy. And I will soon. In the meantime, I hope you will keep reading and keep telling others.

The most important thing right now is that we spread the word about the ideas in this blog and get people to raise their hand. Post comments. Share with friends. If 10,000 raise their hand, we can have a voice. If 100,000, we’ll all get our share of the ad dollars. If 1,000,000…we may just change the world of advertising, putting control in the hands of consumers.

The Mailbag

There was a comment on one of the posts from Thomas:  “i don’t understand what you mean by ‘gathering a large group of us’ it doesn’t seem like advertising gathers anything they put it out there and if it reaches you then you process it or not”

Thanks for raising the question.  If you think about the $300 Billion spent annually by advertisers to “buy” us… all that money goes to media companies (TV, Radio, Magazine, etc).

Media companies provide one value and one value only to the advertising economy: they gather a large group of consumers.   Sure they also entertain and inform along the way, but that too is for one purpose: to gather a large group of consumers.  By gathering a large group of consumers, they get paid $300 Billion by advertisers.

It’s 2009 and I think we can aggregate ourselves.  Especially if it’s worth $300 Billion.

Thanks again for the question Thomas.  I hope you’ll keep reading.
